WHAT WE DO

Only Connect exists to help people live crime-free lives.

We are particularly focused on working with men being released from the London prisons.

Re-offending by ex-prisoners seems to most people to be a sign of failure. We hope prisons will rehabilitate prisoners, but the reality is about two-thirds re-offend within a year of leaving prison. So, at Only Connect we have been asking ourselves how we can do better. We have been looking to extend our approach from providing employability support, to cover relationships and, more recently, attitudes to money.

This is all based on the idea of desistance.

Desistance is the criminological concept of the process by which people stop committing crimes. It has grown out of various substantial longitudinal studies, tracking offenders for large periods of time (often decades). The key finding is the age-crime curve.

OUR VISION

We deliver innovative rehabilitation projects in prisons, across youth justice and through our unique Membership centre in Kings Cross.

Our Membership model offers one single, seamless relationship from custody to community and into future prospects.

OUR IMPACT

Upon being referred to Only Connect, each potential new Member has a 1:1 session with one of our case workers. During this session - commonly known as a Strengths & Needs Assessment (SANs) - the Member and Support worker complete a Justice Star.

The outcomes are based on the resettlement pathways, and consist of: accomodation; living skills & self care; mental health & well-being; friends & community; relationships & family; parenting & care; drugs & alcohol; positive use of time; managing strong feelings; a crime-free life.

ONLY CONNECT MUSIC

We Throughout the year our members, who have participated on our music courses, create and develop their music, which we release for them through our channels. This helps them build their confidence and form a strong foundation for their goals to progress in the music industry.
